how much work 100W solar panel can do?

Back>

The idea is: you got a solar panel with the charge controller. You hook a car battery, then hook the output to a normal power outlet. Now the power outlet supply 12V DC instead of 110V VC. You can plug in 12V light, fans, well water pump, motion sensor, security alarm, what's not.

There was once a tree house in the backyard that powered by solar power alone. It has been teared down now.

The charge controller is connected to a 100W solar panel, which work even in rainy and cloudy days. The charge controller also connect to a 40AH car battery, whose output is protected by a 35A fuse. The charge controller is mounted under the treehouse, which is not subject to the rain and direct sunlight, but subject to mist and frogs -- a damp location.

A junction box split the battery's output to two branches, one to interior of the treehouse, one to exterior of the treehouse.

The indoor have a switch and a plug. In order to power the 12 V car electronics, a 12 V car socket is added, the car socket can drive a DC to VC converter, therefore drive normal appliances.

At the other side of the treehouse, there is a single gang plug box, with 3 pin output as an extension, so that computer components can be plug in. A computer fan is connected as the house venting.

At outdoor, a flash light is controlled by a wireless switch, so that it can be turn on/off inside the treehouse in the sleeping bag.

A waterproof plug box is installed, I routed a UF-2 wire into the steel storage shed, then it has solar powered 12V light too. The shed is connected to main solar circuit with a plug into the waterproof plug box.
